Downtown Truckee Wine Walk & Shop Selects Sierra Senior Services as 2010 Event Beneficiary

 

For the last five years, the Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk & Shop event has raised thousands of dollars for various non-profit organizations in the community. This year a portion of the event’s proceeds will be donated to Sierra Senior Services.

Sierra Senior Services provides a daily hot nutritious meal primarily to low-income individuals, specifically the most frail and homebound seniors, ensuring that this segment of the population will remain independent and in their own homes for as long as possible. In 2008, the agency served 21,000 meals and last year, in the face of adverse conditions it served nearly 24,000 meals to seniors and disabled adults in the Truckee community.

 

The popular Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk & Shop event has gained momentum in each successive year. The first Wine, Walk & Shop drew nearly 500 attendees and InnerRhythms Dance Theatre received $2,000 of the proceeds. Since then attendance and participation has grown with nearly 1,000 attendees shopping and strolling through downtown Truckee. Last year $4,500 was raised for Tahoe Women's Services.
